Clinic
for Voice and Laryngeal Disorders
Hoarseness, benign and malignant tumors
Dr. Anat Shatz, Dr. Peter Freidman and the voice therapist
Ms. Rachel Hazan diagnose laryngeal diseases at an early
stage of their development. Diagnosis is performed using
advanced computerized methods, including acoustic analysis
of the voice as well as stroboscopy.
Computerized stroboscopy is a method enabling early,
precise and quick diagnosis of all types of diseases
that affect the vocal cords. The physicians use specialized
equipment to view and record minute vibrations of the
vocal cords; to detect subtle lesions that cannot be
seen using standard endoscopic examination; and to precisely
follow and document the progress of prescribed treatments.
Our team is highly experienced in treating patients
who extensively use their voice as a tool of their trade,
such as singers, actors, cantors, teachers, lecturers,
lawyers, politicians and others.
Methods of treatment implemented at the Voice Clinic
include:
1. Voice therapy.
Conservative, well tried, proven treatments of the voice
by a voice therapist who guides and trains the patient
on how to properly use his or her voice.
2. Medication.
Medications are prescribed in certain cases, such as gastroesophageal
reflux (a condition in which gastric acid flows back up
from the stomach into the esophagus and may irritate the
larynx.
3. Surgery.
Surgical procedures are implemented to excise benign and
malignant lesions from the vocal cords; as well as to
correct problems associated with paralysis or other mobility
related problems of the vocal cords.
